tonight
Just have a little story to share today.
Ever since I was a little kid, I loved the song "better than I". I believe I first heard it in the movie Joseph King of Dreams. Then I bought a Joy Williams cd in which she sang the song as well. I used to play it over and over up in my room, staring out the window...
Even as a little kid, the song became a huge comfort to me to remind myself that God has a plan for everything. And that even when things seem completely messed up to me....He knows better than I do - because He can see the whole picture.
I distinctly remember one afternoon, when I was young, I was listening to this song, looking out my window, and praying. It was a particularly hard day and I was feeling very alone. As I was singing this song to God a bird flew by and landed right by the window next to me.
Ever since then, I have associated birds with God's presence. I see birds everywhere and am reminded that God is right there with me & He has a plan for the way things are.
To bring this back to current times and to complete my story, today was kinda a rough day (cough - rough week), and I set out on a run tonight to clear my mind. About a mile down the road there was a HUGE flock of birds just sitting on the road. So as I ran by, birds were flying all around me. In front of me, behind me, above me.
It gave me a huge smile and a peace in my heart as I remembered that day long ago as a kid with the bird by my window. God was still here. & He still knows better than I.
Better Than I
I thought i did what's right
I thought i had the answer
I thought i chose the surest road
But that road brought me here
So i put up a fight
And told You how to help me
And just when i had given up
The truth has come clear
Chorus
For You know better than I
You know the way
I've let go, the need to know why
Cause You know better than I
If this has been a test
I cannot see the reason
But maybe knowin', I don't know
Is part of gettin through
I try to do what's best
And faith has made it easy
To see the best thing I can do
Is put my faith in You
Chorus
I saw one cloud and thought it was the sky
I saw a bird and thought that I could follow
But it was You who taught them how to fly
If I let you reach me, will You teach me
For You know better than I
You know the way
I've let go, the need to know why
I'll take what answers You supply
Cause You know better than I
